ABOUT ME
With the intention of sharing the magic of riding waves, connecting with the ocean, and earning a living, I began teaching surfing.
My name is Alvaro Tisoc. I was born, raised and dewormed in Perú! I came to San Francisco seeking different waves, a distinct culture and a little solitude. So with the only constants in my life being having great charisma and an unconditional passion for surfing, I decided to start my journey as a surf instructor, here, in Northern California.
It has definitely been a delicate path, the one of learning how to teach. When I started, with 10 years of surfing experience and mastery, I thought to my self, ¨How difficult can it be?¨ As I tried to pass on my knowledge to my students, I realized that I was lost, but I was determined to figure it out.
Developing awareness and control over my knowledge in order to effectively transmit it has been crucial, not only in my life as a surfer, but as a person. Now, after coaching for 2 years, I approach each class as a new adventure, where I have to face new difficulties, and design different and customized methods. I find it simply addictive.
Finally, I want to say that I am very proud of the people who has been working with me, and I am immensely grateful for their trust.
